FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, Jul 3 (NNN-ANA) – Afghan Counter-narcotics police, have demolished a total of 1,699 acres of poppy lands in north Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province, said a statement by the provincial police, yesterday.
The illegal harvest has been wiped out in the province’s Khash, Argo, and Darayem districts, over the past one day, the statement affirmed.
Without providing more details, the statement noted that, eliminating poppy farms ongoing in Badakhshan and police will not allow anyone to cultivate poppy or any other illegal crops in the province.
The Afghan caretaker government, banned poppy cultivation and its processing to drug, and drug trafficking in Apr, 2022, and since then, the administration has been fighting to eliminate the drug menace, in the once poppy-growing country.– NNN-ANA
