PARIS, July 1 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Three people were killed on Sunday when their light aircraft crashed onto a motorway east of Paris, the police and gendarmerie said.
No car was hit in the crash of the plane onto the A4 motorway in Noisiel east of Paris which appeared to have been caused by the aircraft hitting an electric power cable, said a police source, asking not to be named, adding that the road had been blocked in both directions.
Meaux prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier said the victims were “two men and a woman”, adding the pilot “was born in 1989”.
Horror footage showed the aircraft lying on its roof, crumpled atop on the motorway barrier.
The Bureau of Investigation and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA) has also opened an “administrative investigation”.
Le Parisien reported that the jet had just taken off from the Lognes-Emerainville aerodrome, around 2.45pm.
The Lognes aerodrome residents’ association noted this was the second crash in a year involving a tourist plane from Lognes-Emerainville.
Last July, another plane missed its landing and hit the A4 barrier, but all three onboard survived. — NNN-AGENCIES
