Russia: Dormitory fire in Moscow suburb kills 5

MOSCOW, June 29 (NNN-XINHUA) — A fire erupted in a dormitory in Balashikha, a Moscow suburb, leaving five people dead, local media reported on Saturday.

“As a result of the fire in the dormitory on Keramicheskaya Street, five people have died. Three have been rescued and are currently undergoing resuscitation, and 10 people have been evacuated,” TASS news agency quoted the operational services as saying.

“According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was an emergency operation of the electrical network,” the operational services said.

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said that the fire, covering an area of 40 square meters, has been put out. 

TASS quoted emergency services as saying the dormitory housed mainly foreign migrant workers. — NNN-XINHUA
