Seven Dead, 10 Missing In Central Afghanistan Floods

BAMIYAN, Afghanistan, Jun 28 (NNN-ANA) – Heavy rains and flash floods claimed seven lives and 10 more went missing, in central Afghanistan’s Bamiyan province, provincial government spokesman, Abdul Sabour Sighani said, late Wednesday.

The natural disaster swept parts of Yakawlang district late Tuesday, the official said, adding, efforts were underway to recover victims’ bodies or survivors.

The floods also washed away dozens of houses and agricultural lands, the official said.

Similarly, flash floods destroyed 40 houses and more than 300 acres of farmlands in Yamgan district, of the northern Badakhshan province on Tuesday.– NNN-ANA
