Two Test Positive For Zika Virus In India

NEW DELHI, Jun 27 (NNN-PTI) – Two persons have been diagnosed to be suffering from the Zika virus, in India’s south-western state of Maharashtra, confirmed a local health department official, yesterday.

A 46-year-old doctor and his teenage daughter, tested positive for the Zika virus in Maharashtra’s Pune district. The duo were said to be in stable condition.

Their three family members were said to be negative for the virus.

According to the World Health Organisation, the Zika virus is a mosquito-borne virus, that can cause fever, rash, and other symptoms. It is primarily transmitted by the “Aedes” mosquito, which is active during the day.– NNN-PTI
