Indonesia, EU Set To Focus Cooperation On Sustainable Development Programmes

JAKARTA, Indonesia, May 29 (NNN-ANTARA) – Indonesia and the European Union (EU) are set to focus their cooperation on sustainable development programmes concerning environment, education and health.

It was expressed here, at the launch of Blue Book 2019, which is themed “Together for Sustainable Development.”

EU and Indonesia have long been partnering in fulfilling Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) commitments, Charge d’Affaires of the EU Delegation to Indonesia Charles-Michel Geurts, said.

“SDG’s is the main aim that has been used as the cooperation guideline of EU and Indonesia,” Geurts said, with Indonesian Development Planning Minister, Bambang Brodjonegoro, being present.

He added that Indonesia has demonstrated significant improvements in putting SDG’s as the mainstream of its development plans.

With a total of 100 million euro (111.7 million U.S. dollars) assistance funds, EU and Indonesia are committed to jointly carrying out the existing and upcoming programmes aimed at complying with the SDG’s, he said.

Bambang Brodjonegoro said that the cooperation focus of Indonesia and EU has been in line with the SDG’s which the international community has been pursuing.

“Indonesia is among the first countries to file in reports on SDG’s progress to the United Nations (UN) in 2017. In July this year we will submit our second progress report,” the minister said.

He added that the Indonesian government has set SDG’s action plans and the implementation has been well addressed by regional administrations across the country so far.– NNN-ANTARA
