Ending Occupation Key To Resolving Palestinian-Israeli Conflict: Jordan FM

AMMAN, Jordan, May 29 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan stressed that, ending the occupation was the key to resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Jordan’s Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, made the remarks in a phone call with his Irish counterpart, Simon Coveney, stressing the need for intensified efforts to end the occupation.

Ending the occupation is through the two-state solution, that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, at the borders of 1967, and in line with international legitimacy resolution and the 2002 Arab peace initiative.

Safadi stressed that any economic solution to address the consequences of the conflict cannot be an alternative to a comprehensive peace plan to attain the two-state solution.

The two sides agreed that supporting the economic development is a key factor to support the political solution.

They underlined the need to intensify efforts to push for the realisation of the two-state solution.

The minister voiced appreciation for Ireland’s support to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.– NNN-PETRA
