TEHRAN, Iran, May 29 (NNN-IRNA) – Former Tehran mayor, Mohammad Ali Najafi, was detained on Tuesday, for killing his wife, Mohammad Shahryari, head of Tehran’s Criminal Court, said.
Mitra Ostad, the second wife of Najafi, was shot dead at her home, in the northern district of the Iranian capital, on Tuesday.
Shahryari said, family dispute was the cause of the murder. Najafi confessed to the murder of his wife, he added.
Najafi is an Iranian reformist politician, who was the mayor of Tehran for eight months until April, 2018.
He is currently serving as an adviser, in the cabinet of the Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani.– NNN-IRNA
