NEW DELHI, Jun 12 (NNN-PTI) – A massive power outage yesterday, hit several parts of the Indian capital territory, officials said.
The local government has attributed the outage to a fire, at a substation of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, in Uttar Pradesh’s Mandola.
“The power restoration process has begun and electricity is now gradually returning to different areas. But this major failure in the national power grid is extremely worrying,” Delhi Power Minister, Atishi, said.
The outages have come at a time when the capital territory is battling soaring temperature, thus adding to the woes of the residents.
According to Meteorological Department officials, the temperature in Delhi yesterday afternoon hovered around 42 degrees Celsius.– NNN-PTI
