KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait, May 29 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait will launch 5G service by mid-June, Kuwait’s Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA), announced.
Salem Al-Othaina, chairman and CEO of CITRA, said, CITRA has completed the pilot operation of the fifth-generation networks of telecommunication companies, and is ready to launch the fifth generation commercially by mid-June.
“This service comes in line with the authority’s efforts to develop the telecommunications sector in Kuwait, to keep abreast of the modern technological development of telecommunications,” he said in a statement.
It also comes in line with the recommendations of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and international organisations specialised in the technology.
This will make Kuwait one of the first countries in the world, to organise and operate the new technology, he said.
The application of this service will be a great leap for the telecommunications world, where speed of internet connection will reach great lengths, he added.– NNN-KUNA
