NEW DELHI, Jun 10 (NNN-PTI) – At least 10 pilgrims were killed and 32 others injured, some of them critically, yesterday, after a bus carrying them skidded off the mountainous road and fell into a deep gorge, in Indian-controlled Kashmir, following a militant attack, police said.
According to police, the bus came under attack in Teryath village of Poni area, in Reasi district, about 236 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.
Police said, the Hindu pilgrims were believed to be hailing from the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
Following the incident, a rescue operation was launched. Officials feared that the death toll was likely to go up, owing to the critical condition of some of the injured.
Earlier media reports said nine were killed in the incident.– NNN-PTI
