India’s PM-Designate Modi Stakes Claim To Form Next Gov’t

NEW DELHI, Jun 8 (NNN-PTI) – India’s Prime Minister-designate, Narendra Modi, yesterday staked the claim, to form the country’s next government, by submitting a list of lawmakers supporting the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), before President Droupadi Murmu, confirmed an official source at the President’s House.

Modi is scheduled to take oath as the country’s prime minister for the third consecutive five-year term on Jun 9 (tomorrow).

Earlier in the day, Modi was chosen as the leader of the NDA Parliamentary Party.

Two days ago, Modi resigned from the prime minister’s post as per the protocol, in order to pave the way for the next government’s formation. President Murmu accepted the resignation, requesting him to act as the prime minister, till the new government is formed.

Results of the recently concluded general elections were announced on Jun 4.– NNN-PTI
