TEHRAN, Jun 8 (NNN-IRNA) — Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, yesterday urged the U.S. and certain European countries, to “fully and practically” stop their support for Israel, in order to put an end to the “reckless and brutal” violence against the Palestinians.
He made the remarks in a post on social media platform X, while responding to European Union foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell’s comments on Thursday.
In a post released on X Thursday, Borrell expressed concern over reports of violence and suffering endured by civilians in Gaza and called for an independent investigation into a deadly Israeli attack on a school of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), earlier in the day.
In his post, Borrell emphasised that, an enduring ceasefire was the only way forward to protect civilians in Gaza and get to the immediate release of all captives, calling on both parties, Hamas and Israel, to agree on the U.S. three-phase plan.
Kanaani said, mere words were not enough to end the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, adding, the only way to end “this painful tragedy, as well as, the reckless and brutal violence” against the Palestinians, was the complete and practical cessation of support by the United States and Europe for Israel.
Israel has so far killed 36,731 Palestinians and injured more than 83,530 others in the enclave, according to the figures released by the health authorities in Gaza yesterday.– NNN-IRNA
