Iraqi PM Reaffirms Readiness To Support Gaza

BAGHDAD, Jun 7 (NNN-NINA) – Iraq is ready to provide all forms of support to the Palestinian people, despite the challenges and obstacles hindering the delivery of food and humanitarian aid, said Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, yesterday.

The Iraqi prime minister made the remarks, when meeting with his Palestinian counterpart, Mohammad Mustafa.

A statement by the Iraqi prime minister’s media office said that, al-Sudani held a meeting with Mustafa in Baghdad, during which they discussed the situation in Palestine and the ongoing war in Gaza.

The Iraqi prime minister reaffirmed Iraq’s steadfast and principled stance for the Palestinian cause, according to the statement.

For his part, Mustafa praised Iraq’s positions, stressing the appreciation of the Palestinian people for the Iraqi government’s steps and initiatives in sending aid and fuel to Palestine.

Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, also held a meeting with Mustafa, in which Rashid renewed Iraq’s severe condemnation of the attacks against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Rashid stressed that, “there is no security or stability in the region without reaching a comprehensive and just solution to the Palestinian issue,” according to a statement by the Iraqi presidency office.

Rashid concluded that, “the international community must assume its legal and moral responsibilities, to stop the war immediately and work to provide relief to the Palestinian people.”

Iraq has already sent several batches of medical aid and fuel to the Gaza Strip, in coordination with the Jordanian and Egyptian authorities.– NNN-NINA
