Cambodia Arrested Four, For Drug Trafficking, Seizing Over 16 Kg Of Narcotics

PHNOM PENH, Jun 4 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia arrested a gang of four local men, for manufacturing and trafficking in drugs, seizing more than 16 kg of narcotics, the Anti-Drug Department (ADP) said in a news release today.

The suspects, aged between 27 and 45 years old, were apprehended on Friday last week, during raids on two locations in southern Kandal province’s Ta Khmau town and capital, Phnom Penh’s Chroy Changvar district.

“A total of 16.1 kg of ecstasy, methamphetamine tablets, crystal methamphetamine, and ketamine was seized from the suspects’ possession during the crackdowns,” the ADP said.

The police also confiscated 686 kg of drug ingredients, as well as, a large number of equipment and supplies for drug manufacturing, the ADP added.

The country has no death penalty for a drug trafficker. Under its law, someone found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of illicit drugs could be imprisoned for life.

According to the ADP, the kingdom detained 9,369 drug-related suspects, including 324 foreigners, during the Jan-May period of 2024, seizing a total of 4.71 tonnes of narcotics.– NNN-AKP
