HAVANA, June 4 (NNN-ACN) — The government of India sent humanitarian assistance to Cuba consisting of 90 tons of nine active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) for the production of medicines.
The raw materials will be used to produce essential antibiotics in the form of dosage forms of pills, capsules, syrups and injections for the treatment of chronic communicable diseases.
India’s Foreign Ministry pointed out that the aforementioned aid reaffirms the Asian country’s status as the World’s Pharmacy and underscores its commitment to the historic bonds of friendship with Cuba after almost 65 years of diplomatic relations.
On Thursday, after being asked by Prensa Latina about the effects on the Cuban people of arbitrary and extraterritorial measures such as the U.S. blockade and the unjust inclusion of the island on Washington’s list of states allegedly sponsoring terrorism, the spokesman of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, confirmed the excellent ties between the two nations. — NNN-ACN
