MCMC Strengthens Cybercrime Fight In Partnership With UNODC

KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), in close collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), is taking the lead in the fight against cybercrime across Southeast Asia. This commitment was reiterated at the UNODC Joint Policy Dialogue on Industry Regulation and Enforcement in Managing Cybercrime, an event held from 28 to 29 May 2024, dedicated to tackling the dynamic and ever-evolving threats in the digital realm.

The Joint Policy Dialogue serves as a critical platform for policymakers, law enforcement agencies, and industry leaders to discuss and formulate strategies for a safer digital world, including strengthening regulations for Over-the-Top (OTT) platforms to curb cybercrime and the spread of illegal content. MCMC is strongly advocating for technological solutions that prioritise user safety and mitigate the dissemination of illicit content across online platforms.
