SEOUL, May 27 (NNN-YONHAP) – One trainee soldier of the South Korean army has died, two days after collapsing during a so-called discipline training, it was reported yesterday.
Of the six recruits who underwent the discipline training, at an army unit in the country’s eastern Gangwon province, one fell down at around 5:20 p.m. local time (0820 GMT) on Thursday.
The fallen trainee was rushed to a private hospital but died on Saturday afternoon.
The discipline training refers to physical and mental trainings, which a commanding officer orders soldiers to do, in a bid to establish military discipline.
The army has reportedly investigated the exact cause of the incident, including whether the training was conducted in accordance with regulations and procedures.– NNN-YONHAP
