Cuban government appoints new Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment

HAVANA, May 25 (NNN-ACN) — The Cuban government appointed Oscar Perez-Oliva as new Foreign Trade and Investment, replacing Ricardo Cabrizas, who had held the position since last year.

The note from the Council of State that officialize the appointment reads that the move was approved by the Cuban president and the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party.

Pérez-Oliva, 53 years old, is an electronic engineer. He has a wide management experience accumulated during more than 15 years in the Foreign Trade activity, as company director, deputy minister in this agency and director of Business Evaluation in the Mariel Special Development Zone.

Likewise, the Government of the Republic approved the appointment of Carlos Luis Jorge Méndez as First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment.

Carlos Luis Jorge Méndez, 36 years old, has a degree in Economics and has had different responsibilities in the Foreign Trade activity, from specialist, advisor to the Minister, General Director of Foreign Investment and current Vice Minister of this organism. — NNN-ACN
