PHNOM PENH, May 23 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia’s anti-drug police have arrested a gang of three Vietnamese nationals, for possessing, trafficking and manufacturing drugs, seizing more than 25 kg of narcotics, the Anti-Drug Department (ADP) said, in a news release, yesterday.
The suspects, including a woman, aged between 30 and 41 years old, were apprehended on Monday, during raids on three locations in the capital, Phnom Penh, after a thorough probe.
“A total of 25.1 kg of ecstasy, crystal methamphetamine, ketamine, and heroin was seized from the suspects’ possession during the crackdowns,” the ADP said.
In addition, some 81.5 kg of drug ingredients were also confiscated from them during the raids, the ADP added.
Vietnam has no death sentence for a drug trafficker. Under its law, someone found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of illicit drugs could be imprisoned for life.
According to the ADP, the kingdom detained 7,128 drug-related suspects, including 237 foreigners, during the Jan-Apr period this year, seizing a total of 3.87 tonnes of narcotics.
Most of the seized drugs were ketamine, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine tablets, heroin, ecstasy, and cocaine.– NNN-AKP
