RAMALLAH, Palestine, May 28 (NNN-MA’AN) – A Palestinian diplomat, said that, Palestine will participate in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) summit, scheduled for June.
Palestinian Deputy Prime Minister, Ziad Abu Amr, will head a Palestinian delegation to the conference, Mazen Shamiyah, Palestinian deputy Foreign Minister for Asia, Africa and Australia, said.
Palestine was one of the first members that joined CICA, whose main objective is to disarm nuclear weapons and pursue the principle of peace, security and stability in the world, Shamiyah said.
“Palestine believes all countries around the world need to combat the crime in all forms,” the Palestinian official noted.
Palestine is still defending its idea that everyone must live in security and stability, without any aggression against others, he added.
This year’s CICA summit will be held in Tajikistan’s capital, Dushanbe, with participation of leaders of its members.
CICA was established in 1992, as a forum for dialogue and consultation on security issues in Asia, with the first summit held in 2002.
“The participation of Palestine as a member of CICA emphasises the principles of this conference,” said Hussam al-Dajani, a political expert based in the Gaza Strip.
“It is a good opportunity for Palestine to highlight the violation of Palestinian land by Israel, also a member of CICA,” the expert noted.
“This is the right opportunity for the Palestinians to express their grievances internationally, while the world is waiting for U.S. President, Donald Trump, to formally announce the ‘Deal of the Century,'” he added.– NNN-MA’AN
