OTTAWA, May 20 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Three people were killed and five others injured Saturday night following a boat crash in Canada, local media reported.
It happened after 9:30 p.m. local time in the Buck Bay area of Bobs Lake, about 140 km south of Canada’s capital, Ottawa. “One boat was described as an open bow fishing style boat and the other as a speed boat,” local police said in an update.
The police said that three people were pronounced dead at the scene and five others were taken to hospital, CTV News reported.
Police said two of those who died, a 21-year-old woman and a 23-year old man, were from South Frontenac Township. The third was a 22-year-old woman from Elginburg, Ontario, just outside Kingston.
All three were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Five other people aged between 21 to 44 were taken to hospital in Kingston with a range of injuries. One of the patients was airlifted.
The cause of the collision is under investigation, said the report. — NNN-AGENCIES
