Bangladesh’s Annual SME Fair Kicked Off

DHAKA, May 20 (NNN-BSS) – Bangladesh’s annual National Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Fair-2024, began in the capital, Dhaka, yesterday.

More than 300 SME institutions have been exhibiting their products, including jute, agriculture and leather products, and electrical and information and technology goods at the seven-day fair.

Bangladeshi Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, inaugurated the fair at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Dhaka.

In her speech, Hasina asked all concerned to create more opportunities for female entrepreneurs.

She said, men can take initiatives bringing their wives and sisters in the SME business by enjoying opportunities of SME facilities, that include taking loan on four percent interest rate.

She expressed her satisfaction as 60 percent SME entrepreneurs in the country are women.

Hasina said, her government has been constructing 100 economic zones across Bangladesh, where SME entrepreneurs can get lands to build their own industries.– NNN-BSS
