TUNIS, May 13 (NNN-XINHUA) — A total of 300 kg of cannabis resin and 25,000 psychotropic tablets have been seized by Tunisian security in the eastern province of Sousse, private radio station Mosaique FM reported.
“A large sum of money, 8 billion dinars (around 2.5 billion U.S. dollars), cars and jewelry were seized during this operation,” Mosaique FM quoted Fakher Bouzghaia, spokesperson for the Interior Ministry, as saying.
Bouzghaia specified that nine people belonging to a global network active in Arab countries, and two other Europeans, were arrested.
“After consultation with the prosecution, charges relating to drug trafficking and money laundering have been formulated,” said the spokesman, noting that this network launders its funds in real estate. — NNN-XINHUA
