LIMA, May 7 (NNN-ANDINA) — Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea on Monday indicated that President Dina Boluarte reaffirmed to World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala her commitment to Peru’s economic growth.
“She (the president) reaffirmed her maximum efforts to exceed the economic growth expectations forecast for the current year, and that she is committed, in accordance with her condition as a woman, to continue fighting for a better country; she assured the WTO director-general that she will do so until the end of her term in office,” Gonzalez-Olaechea indicated.
The Cabinet member mentioned that, during the meeting the president held with the director-general, the WTO senior official highlighted Peru’s macroeconomic, fiscal, and financial strength.
In turn, the visiting dignitary —he said— underscored the country’s economic growth projections, according to official figures that are of public knowledge.
“She also congratulated the madam president for her fortitude as a woman leader, after having faced difficult times following December 7, 2022. The constitutional President of the Republic thanked her over those words on her government,” he stated.
At a press conference, Minister Gonzalez-Olaechea said the WTO director-general will continue her visit to Peru fulfilling a work agenda with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on possible agreements in favor of an economy that focuses more on women entrepreneurs and the objectives to which Peru is adhered.
During a meeting with World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, President Dina Boluarte on Monday reaffirmed Peru’s commitment to the development of international trade.
“The top official reaffirmed Peru’s firm commitment to actively contributing to the development of international trade on issues such as digital economy, internationalization of MSMEs, as well as revaluation of women and their contribution to economic-commercial activities,” the Presidential Office reported via social media.
It also pointed out that Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala highlighted Peru’s sustainable growth over the past 25 years, which has led to reducing poverty levels.
In that regard, the visiting dignitary congratulated the president for maintaining the good macroeconomic management in the country.
At a press conference, the WTO director-general affirmed that she had a favorable impression of Peru’s economy, which is why she complimented the Head of State over the economic management.”After all the challenges that Peru has had to face, it seems to me that it is very good to be able to maintain the country’s growth,” she said.
President Boluarte held an audience with Director-General Okonjo-Iweala, who was accompanied by Peru’s Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea.
Subsequently, joined by the world trade high authority, the Peruvian dignitaries met with women leaders and entrepreneurs who lead small and medium-sized enterprises.
