LIMA, April 25 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea will pay an official visit to Beijing, China, on April 29-30.

This visit is intended to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Peru and China in the political-diplomatic, economic-trade, cultural, and cooperation spheres.

The aim is “to deepen and invigorate the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2013, which is being reflected, among others, in the fact that, since 2014, said country has become Peru’s primary trading partner and main investor,” the document reads.

During his visit to Beijing, the Peruvian minister will meet with his Chinese counterpart and other government authorities.

Among the issues to be addressed are the preparations for high-level visits expected to take place this year in Peru, as well as the implementation of the 12th Peru-China Political Consultation Mechanism Meeting.

Before flying to China, Gonzalez-Olaechea will pay an official visit to Paris, France.

He is expected to participate —on April 26—  in a meeting with Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Secretary-General Mathias Cormann and officials from the OECD Development Centre and other authorities.

On the same day, he will also hold a meeting with Dimitri Kerkentzes, secretary general of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), with the purpose of promoting Peru’s participation at Expo 2025 Osaka, in Japan.

The minister’s agenda for said date includes additional working meetings with officials from the Embassy and Consulate General of Peru in France, as well as from the Peruvian Permanent Representation of Peru to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Likewise, Gonzalez-Olaechea has been invited to the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting to be held in the French capital from May 2 to 3. This also takes place within the framework of Peru’s accession process to the aforementioned international organization. — NNN-ANDINA
