LIMA, April 25 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peruvian farming exports (traditional and non-traditional) to Europe totaled US$538.167 million in the first two months of 2024, up 26% over the same period last year (US$427 million), the Agro-Export Management of the Peruvian Exporters Association (Adex) has reported.
This is the highest amount in the last 10 years (January-February period), which would resume the growth rate after falling by 18.8% in 2023 compared to 2022 (US$526.026 million).
With the aim of further strengthening the presence of said shipments in Europe and other important markets, Adex is promoting the participation of companies at SIAL Paris, one of the world’s foremost food fairs, which will take place from October 19 to 23.
SIAL Paris is mainly aimed at exporters of processed foods and beverages, as well as functional and frozen products, among others.
Peru has reserved 2 spaces at the Grocery Zone and 1 at the Frozen Zone, where up to 36 exhibiting companies can participate.
In addition, there will be a meeting point area for business meetings with potential buyers.
According to figures from the Adex Data Trade Commercial Intelligence System, the main European destination for Peruvian farming exports in the first two months of the year was the Netherlands (US$$256. 227 million), thus accounting for 47.6% of the total and experiencing an increase in demand of 29.1%.
It should be noted that the Netherlands is the gateway for many products to Europe.
Completing the top ten were Spain (US$90.341 million), the United Kingdom (US$48.519 million), Belgium (US$42.412 million), Germany (US$41.348 million), Italy (US$16.636 million), France (US$15.421 million), Russia (US$9.122 million), Sweden (US$4.645 million), and Portugal (US$2.923 million). — NNN-ANDINA
