KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 (NNN-BERNAMA) — A strong earthquake measuring at 7.6 on the Richter scale hit north Peru at 3.41pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department in a statement said the epicentre of the quake was located 297 kilometres north of Pucallpa, Peru, and occurred at a depth of 131km.
The quake, however, did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said.
