TOKYO, Apr 24 (NNN-NHK) – A man was injured and taken to hospital, yesterday, after a towering cherry blossom tree fell on him, on the bustling Sannenzaka slope, in the western Japanese city of Kyoto.
The incident took place around 11:45 a.m. local time, at one of Kyoto’s busiest tourist areas, located not far from the renowned Kiyomizudera Temple, when an emergency call reported that a male tourist was trapped under a cherry blossom tree, that had fallen across the stone-paved staircase, according to local authorities.
The 62-year-old victim had difficulty walking and was taken to a nearby hospital.
According to local media reports, the fallen cherry blossom tree, approximately 9.1 metres high and 40 centimetres in diameter, was located on private land.– NNN-NHK
