KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 10 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Muslims throughout Malaysia will celebrate Eid al-Fitr today, April 10 2024, the government said, via a live local television broadcast in Kuala Lumpur last night.
“… I declare that the start of Hari Raya … for all states throughout Malaysia is Wednesday, April 10, 2024,” said Custodian of the Great Seal of the Kings, Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad.
The statement, said Syed, was conveyed “in order to complete the order of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (Malaysian King), after being approved by their Highnesses the Kings of the states of Malaysia.”
The date for Eid al-Fitr 2024 was determined, after observing the moon in 29 locations throughout the country yesterday evening.
On different occasions, The King of Malaysia, Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, wishes all Muslims in Malaysia, a happy Eid al-Fitr.
“I take this opportunity to call on all levels of society, regardless of race and religion, to celebrate this Syawal with the practice of visiting each other to strengthen ties. “silaturahim and community unity,” said the Agong, via his account on social media.
He advised people to take advantage of the momentum of the holiday to forgive each other, especially between family members, relatives and friends.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Prime Minister (PM) Anwar Ibrahim also wishes all Muslims a happy holiday.
He advised those travelling back to their hometowns to drive carefully and show love to their loved ones.
