YANGON, Apr 4 (NNN-MNA) – Authorities have seized 48.3 kg of heroin worth over 1.93 billion kyats (about 920,000 U.S. dollars) in Mon state, southern Myanmar, the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) reported late yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotic police intercepted a vehicle in Kyaikhto township of Mon state, on Mar 30, and confiscated the 48.3 kg of 138 heroin blocks, the CCDAC said.
Initial investigations showed that the drugs were transported from southern Shan state to Mawlamyine city of Mon state, it said.
One suspect was arrested for the case.– NNN-MNA
