PORT-AU-PRINCE, April 4 (NNN-ACN) — Local armed gangs failed in an assault on the Haiti National Palace wounding at least five police officers, while murder, kidnappings and lootings keep prevailing in the capital Port-au-Prince.
The Haitian National Police countered the attack against the country’s political power symbol, an action perpetrated by the armed gang coalition “Vivre Ensemble” led by Jimi Cherizier, known as Barbecue, Telesur TV reported.
This has been the second armed attack on the National Palace after a previous failed attempt on March 8th by men led by Barbecue, many of whom finished seriously wounded.
Meanwhile, Haitian authorities extended a curfew up to Wednesday in the Western department, which includes the city capital. — NNN-ACN
