KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 4 (NNN-BERNAMA) – China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), which is building the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), a mega rail project in Malaysia, recognised its local vendors yesterday, for their contributions to the project.
In a statement, the CCCC awarded 20 local vendors, including consultants and subcontractors with the Award of Excellence 2023, highlighting their skills and achievements across a range of areas, including health, safety, and environment (HSE) management, quality management, project management, and resource allocation.
Kong Qi, managing director of the CCCECRL, noted that, local vendors have been instrumental in driving the project’s success.
“Their exceptional performance has not only advanced the project’s objectives, but has also set new standards for excellence in our industry. This award symbolises our appreciation for their hard work and commitment and underscores the vital role they play in paving the way for the smooth operation of the ECRL,” he said.
One of the recipients of the award, FLT Machinery Sdn Bhd Supervisor, Kherul Anuar Mat Saman, said, he is grateful for the opportunity to collaborate on the ECRL project since Jul, 2022, with the company, being a contractor of heavy machinery, specialising in the provision of machinery, soil, and river sand.
“Working with CCCECRL has been an enriching experience, marked by their effectiveness and commitment to safety and quality. Through meticulous planning and strict adherence to specifications, we ensure our products consistently meet the project’s high standards,” he said.
Separately, Transport Minister, Anthony Loke Siew Fook, said, late on Tuesday that, works on ECRL are on schedule and will be completed as planned, with a four-hour travel time between Kota Bharu and Kuala Lumpur, to be in place of a seven-hour road journey.
A major infrastructure project under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, the ECRL runs from Malaysia’s largest transport hub, Port Klang and travels across the peninsula to Kelantan state in north-eastern Malaysia.– NNN-BERNAMA
