JAKARTA, Mac 29 (NNN-ANTARA) – The death toll from a landslide, caused by widespread torrential rain last Sunday, in the Indonesian province of West Java, has risen to seven, with three still missing, an official said yesterday.
According to Supriono, head of the operation unit of the provincial search and rescue office, rescuers have recovered three bodies yesterday, two adults and a child, buried in the landslide that hit two villages in the province recently.
The three bodies were taken to a nearby hospital for further identification, while rescuers continued their search for the other missing victims.
The landslide destroyed dozens of houses and more than 400 villagers are temporarily accommodated in the village’s hall and schools.– NNN-ANTARA
