JAKARTA, Mac 28 (NNN-ANTARA) – The Medan District Court in Indonesia, yesterday, sentenced a courier carrying 140 kg of marijuana to life in prison.
Judge Ahmad Sumardi said, the suspect was proven guilty of being an intermediary in drug sales, and violating the Narcotics Law.
The judge’s sentence was lighter than the prosecutor’s demand for death penalty.
In a drug operation, the police arrested the suspect at a toll gate, with 140 kg of marijuana in six sacks in her car.
The police also arrested four other suspects, who handed over the marijuana, and their trial will be held soon.– NNN-ANTARA
