JAKARTA, Mac 22 (NNN-ANTARA) – The 20th edition of the largest textile and garment exhibition in Southeast Asia is back at the Jakarta International Expo, organised by Peraga Expo, together with the Indonesian Textile Association (API) and several other associations.

From Mac 20 till tomorrow, INDO INTERTEX 2024 presents more than 600 companies from over 16 countries, who showcase spectacular displays of the latest technology and innovation from textile, garment and digital printing machines, raw materials, digitalisation technology, textile chemicals, textile dyes, accessories and other textile products in a total area of 35,000 square metres.

“The global economic pressures this year are still shrouded in uncertainty, but the government is optimistic that the Indonesian economy is resilient and the TPT [textile and textile products] industry, will maintain the resilience of the Indonesian economy,” said Dr Ir Taufik Bawazier, M.Sc. General Director of the Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Textile Industry (IKTF), at the Industry Ministry.

Based on the data, processed by the Industry Ministry’s Data and Information Centre (Pusdatin), the textile and clothing industry has contributed 6.05 percent to the GDP of the non-oil and gas processing industry, with an export value of US$6.2 billion from Jan to Sept, last year.

Continuing this positive trend, this year, the government will again carry out its flagship machine restructuring programme for textile industry business players. The results of the evaluation of the restructuring programme last year, showed a positive impact on the performance of industries receiving the incentive programme. This can be seen from the perspective of increasing capacity, productivity, energy efficiency, employment and sales,” explained Jemmy Kartiwa Saatratmaja, general chair of the Indonesian Textile Association.– NNN-ANTARA
