Global tourism companies ready to invest in Tanzania

BERLIN (GERMANY), March 15 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — SEVERAL global companies venturing in tourism have shown interest to invest in accommodation, transports and promotion in Tanzania, the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Angellah Kairuki said.

She said recently during the International Tourism Boerse (ITB), a travel and tourism exhibition which was held in Berlin, Germany that she was pleased with readiness shown by the global companies to invest in the country.

“I met top officials of the TUI Group, which is based in Germany, owning a chain of over 400 hotels across the world, 16 cruise ships, five airlines and over 1,200 logistics companies…we had a fruitful discussion,” she said.

Kairuki added that the company has already invested in Zanzibar and in June this year, it is expected to open a new hotel in Tanzania Mainland.

“The company keeps expanding and intends to capture the Tanzania market to bring more tourists to explore country’s rich game reserves and national parks,” she said.

Furthermore, Kairuki met another company based in US which has shown interest to the Tanzania market.

In another development, she had a discussion on the best ways to promote Tanzania’s tourism including through televised programme with the Expedia Group, an international tourist company.

For his part, Tanzania Tourist Board’s (TTB) Director General, Damas Mfugale said the ITB acted as the platform for attracting foreign tourists and development of the country’s tourism at large.

ITB is the leading Business to Business (B2B) international platform for the tourism industry which brings various companies under the sector venturing in hotels, tourist boards, tour operators, system providers, airlines and car rental companies. — NNN-DAILYNEWS
