YANGON, Mac 12 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar’s authorities seized five million stimulant tablets, in central Myanmar’s Mandalay region, according to the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC), late yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotic police searched two boats, at an irrigation canal in Madaya township of Mandalay region, on Mac 6, and confiscated the drugs which were carried under charcoal sacks in the two boats, the CCDAC said.
The seized drugs had a street value of about 7.5 billion kyats (about 3.57 million U.S. dollars), it said.
Eight suspects, who were arrested for the case, were charged under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, the CCDAC said.– NNN-MNA
