DAR ES SALAAM, March 11 (NNN-XINHUA) — At least nine people were killed and three others injured Sunday evening following a head-on collision between a mini-bus and a truck in eastern Tanzania, an official said on Monday.
The collision occurred at Kiromo village along the Dar es Salaam-Bagamoyo highway, in Bagamoyo district in Coast region, when the driver of the truck attempted to overtake two other vehicles, Coast regional commissioner Aboubakar Kunenge said.
“The driver of the truck failed to overtake the two vehicles and collided with the mini-bus that was heading from the opposite direction,” he said.
The driver of the truck fled the scene and police have launched a manhunt for him, Kunenge said. — NNN-XINHUA
