VIENTIANE, Mac 7 (NNN-KPL) – The Lao Women’s Union, held an event to mark the International Women’s Day tomorrow, with displays of handicrafts, clothing and food made by women from various areas in the country.
The event, held on Tuesday, in the Lao capital, Vientiane, was focused on this year’s theme of the International Women’s Day, “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.”
Speaking at the event, Aly Vongnobountham, the union’s president, stressed the government’s policy support for Lao women, while calling for a larger role of women in the nation’s social life.
She noted that, women’s full participation will accelerate the country’s development and progress, according to a report released by the union, today.
The union is committed to Lao women’s comprehensive engagement, through 65 projects scheduled to run from 2021 to 2025, she added.– NNN-KPL
