Kuwait Calls For Restoring Calm In The Region

KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait, May 22 (NNN-KUNA) – The Kuwaiti Emir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on Tuesday called for restoring calm in the Middle East region, amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States.

During a visit to Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry, the Emir was quoted as saying that, the escalation of tensions has been accelerating in the region and “we hope calm is restored and wisdom prevails.”

The Emir commended the ministry’s employees for building bridges of peace and cooperation with people around the world and staying away from interfering in the domestic affairs of others.

It has been almost one-and-a-half years since Kuwait became a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, during which Kuwait succeeded in playing a realistic and balanced role in a host of issues.

Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, said that, the deterioration of the regional situation, due to the rising tensions “requires strengthening of efforts to protect our region from tension and confrontation.”– NNN-KUNA
