CAMAGÜEY (Cuba), Feb 29 (NNN-ACN) — Throughout February, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Politburo member Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee, have visited enterprises and other economic that failed to meet their production targets, made a loss, or suffer from poor planning, among other problems.
Díaz-Canel and Morales Ojeda met with the workers of a local sugar cane enterprise and talked about possible steps to increase their output, as they have been working at a loss since the entity was established in 2021 mainly because of problems with the mechanical status of their harvesting machinery.
The leaders visited a number of entities long stuck in the red owing to irrigation difficulties and other issues and urged them to design sound strategies to make progress.
During the tour, they also discussed matters related to ideological and political preparation, the performance of local Party and political cadres, the pricing system, and the communication battle in the Internet, among other topics.
“This year we have to tackle the hardships facing our people for reasons we already know and because of the reinforced U.S. blockade; our only choice to is produce and thus create wealth. We have to believe that we can do it,” Díaz-Canel assured.
On his end, Roberto Morales Ojeda stressed that the government was not visiting them to point fingers, but to go over the existing difficulties together with a view to the design of methods and systems that contribute to find tackle them.
“The Party is keeping an eye on every problem found in the municipalities we are visiting, but every region must take steps to start changing things so that we can all work as one to get out of our difficult situation,” he added. — NNN-ACN
