Peru and Morocco reiterate interest in continuing talks for FTA

ABU DHABI (UAE), Feb 29 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peruvian Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Juan Carlos Mathews held a meeting with Moroccan Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour, at which he reiterated Peru’s interest in starting preparatory talks to reach a bilateral free trade agreement.

Both dignitaries underscored the complementarity of their economies and the interest in strengthening trade ties through an agreement, for which it will be necessary to continue with internal conversations and procedures.

Morocco is the fifth largest economy on the African continent, with a GDP per capita of US$4,000. Besides, it represents a market of more than 37 million people.

As is known, the Peruvian Cabinet member has been participating in the 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13) of the World Trade Organization (WTO). The event is taking place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from February 26 to 29. — NNN-ANDINA
