LIMA, Feb 28 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peru’s Pres Dina Boluarte met Federal Minister of the Interior of Germany, Nancy Faeser, which aimed to strengthen the bilateral relationship and cooperation in the fight against drugs.

This meeting took place at the Lima-based Government Palace, where the German authority arrived accompanied by a delegation from the European country and Ambassador to Peru, Sabine Bloch.

The Peruvian president was joined by Cabinet Chief Alberto Otarola, Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea, Interior Minister Victor Torres, and National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (Devida) Executive-Chairman Carlos Figueroa.

The German minister is on a trip to South America, visiting Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.

The gathering had the purpose of strengthening the bilateral relationship and cooperation between both countries, particularly in the fight against illicit drug trafficking and other related crimes.

During this event, Boluarte highlighted the relations between both nations, which were strengthened after her visit to the Republic of Germany in October 2023.

“I take advantage of the visit by Minister Nancy Faeser to thank for the meeting we had with the Federal President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, which enabled us to open up investment and cooperation opportunities in the economic field for our country,” she expressed.

Subsequently, the President received in audience nine Congress members from the United States —a delegation led by Republican Party Representative Vern Buchanan. — NNN-ANDINA
