YANGON, Feb 28 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar authorities seized five tonnes of caffeine in central Myanmar’s Mandalay region, according to a statement released by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC), yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, the anti-narcotics police searched a warehouse in Pyigyitagon township of Mandalay region, last Friday, and seized the controlled chemical caffeine, the CCDAC said.
The confiscated caffeine, worth about two billion kyats (952,380 U.S. dollars), are intended to be transported to the Shan state from the Mandalay region, it said.
Police arrested a suspect in the operation. Further investigation is underway, the CCDAC said.– NNN-MNA
