KIEV, May 21 (NNN-Prensa Latina) New Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced Monday the dissolution of the unicameral Ukrainian Supreme Rada (parliament) and promised to do everything possible to achieve peace in the rebel region of Donbass.

Zelensky demanded legislators to relinquish their mandates and give their place to those who will think about future generations and not the forthcoming elections, alluding to the legislative elections, scheduled for October 27.

An immediate estimate of a contest at the polls would give the possibility to the new president and his party Sluga Naroda to enter the Rada, where they have no seats.

According to recent polls, Sluga Naroda has almost 30 percent popular support, followed by the Opposition Bloc-New Life, with eight points, and the Babkivchina party, of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, with 6.5 points.

The rest of the political parties do not reach the five points necessary to enter the legislature.

The Petro Poroshenko Bloc, which is now part of the majority, and the Popular Front, which left the coalition in power on May 17, would be out of the parliament.
