VIENTIANE, Feb 13 (NNN-KPL) – Laos’ Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, is hoping that more than six million Lao and foreign tourists will take trips in Laos this year.
The ministry sets an ambitious plan for 2024, to attract over 2.2 million domestic and about four million international visitors and earn about 1.3 billion U.S. dollars, Lao News Agency reported today, quoting Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Vansy Kuamua.
This year, the authorities plan to advertise Visit Laos Year in Lao, English and Chinese languages, and to produce tourism information brochures for distribution to travellers.
The authorities also plan to advertise the country’s tourist sites on social media platforms, and meet with businesses in the tourism sector, to improve the tourism industry in Laos.
The Visit Laos Year 2024, will feature 79 major events and activities, including 14 at the national level and 65 at the provincial level.
Apart from tourism, Visit Laos Year aims to showcase the country’s fine arts, culture and traditions, as well as, inform visitors about Laos’ long history and sustainable use of natural resources, according to the report.– NNN-KPL
