Indian Capital On High Alert Ahead Of Farmers’ Protest

NEW DELHI, Feb 12 (NNN-PTI) – Police here in the Indian capital, sounded an alert yesterday, ahead of a farmers’ Delhi march scheduled for tomorrow.

The call for the march has been given by farmer unions, to increase pressure on the federal government to meet their demands, including the enactment of a law guaranteeing a minimum support price (MSP) for crops.

Approximately 200 farmer organisations are part of the protest plan.

Authorities have announced prohibitory orders, under Section 144 (a government order). The order prohibits gathering of more than four people in public places.– NNN-PTI
