Peru: Trade surplus reaches US$17.401 billion in 2023

LIMA, Feb 12 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peru’s trade balance registered a surplus of US$17.401 billion in 2023, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported on Sunday.

Thus, the country’s trade balance experienced eight consecutive years of positive results and exceeded the maximum value of US$14.977 billion recorded in 2021.

Exports grew 1.5% compared to 2022 and totaled US$67.241 billion, a figure higher than that recorded in previous years,” the issuing entity stated.

Likewise, the Central Reserve Bank indicated that, by components, foreign sales of both traditional and non-traditional products showed values higher than those recorded in 2022. 

Similarly, it reported that imports reached US$49.840 billion in 2023, down 10.8% compared to 2022.

“In monthly terms, trade surplus totaled US$2.040 billion in December 2023, US$408 million higher over the same month in 2022,” the BCR said. — NNN-ANDINA
