KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 (NNN-BERNAMA) – The number of unemployed persons in Malaysia continued to fall to 567,800 persons in Dec, 2023, from 569,200 persons in the previous month, with an unemployment rate of 3.3 percent, official data showed, yesterday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that, positive employment trends observed in the final month of 2023 were indicative of the nation’s economic foundations, driven by a continuing growth in economic and social activities.
According to the DOSM, the number of labour force remained increasing in Dec, 2023, with an addition of 0.1 percent month-on-month to 17.03 million persons, recording a higher labour force participation rate of 70.2 percent.
The number of employed persons also continued on a positive trend, with a month-on-month increase of 0.2 percent to 16.46 million persons.– NNN-BERNAMA
